It’s official! After 25+ years of working in corporate, I’m taking the leap. I’m calling it a “mid-life awakening.”
As was true for many people during COVID, I spent time assessing what I wanted my life to look like and what I wanted to do next in my career. The more I thought about it, one thing became clear – I get my energy from connecting with others. Between the weekly 1:1’s I had with my direct reports, to informal mentoring, to providing support and an ear to those in need.
“What if I can do this all day?”
– I thought…
Turns out, I can!
I always thought I wanted a career in "business." As a child, I wasn't sure exactly what that meant, but my Dad's corner office in a skyscraper sure seemed nice, so I figured I might as well pursue that!
My first job in high school was working in Accounts Receivable stuffing invoices in envelops. I proceeded with my goal by pursuing a degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington Foster School of Business, then continued to wear multiple hats while working at two Fortune 500 corporations.
That corner office never happened. In fact, by the time I left, the company I was working for had shifted to "collaborative works spaces" where even VP's no longer had an enclosed office. Sometimes the path you are pursuing is right for you....until it isn't. So here I am, leaving it all to build something new. Christina Weber, Leadership & Career Development Coach, at your service!
